Dr Joseph Tobias MBBS DA MD FRCA FANZCA is the Staff Specialist Anaesthetist as well as a Senior Lecturer at the Rural Clinical School of Medicine, University of Queensland.

Dr Tobias graduated from University of Madras and pursued his enthusiasm for anaesthesia and perioperative medicine. He acquired specialist recognition in India, UK and Australia through extensive training from tertiary care institutions.

Dr Tobias is a Staff Specialist with a special interest in maxillofacial, ENT and paediatric anaesthesia. He was a Specialist Anaesthetist in the UK for five years, prior to his practice in Australia since 2009.

In order to provide a consistent high standard of anaesthesia and perioperative care, Dr Tobias participates in workshops and conferences regularly. He has a keen interest in teaching and training, having been a supervisor of trainee anaesthetists and instructor in simulation training for crisis management in anaesthesia. He has presented and received awards for his scientific publication at national and international meetings.

His other interests include cooking various cuisines and running marathons.
