eHealth and the Digital Hospital

UnitingCare Health is currently developing Australia’s first regional fully-integrated digital hospital in Hervey Bay on Queensland’s Fraser Coast. The state-of-the-art ‘hospital of the future’ will be supported by the Australian Government’s Health and Hospitals Fund, which is providing $47 million towards the estimated $87.5 million construction and eHealth costs. The St Stephen’s Hervey Bay digital hospital is scheduled to open in September 2014, and will show patients and clinicians how technology can transform the healthcare experience.

St Stephen's Hospital - Who We Are

As part of UnitingCare Health, St Stephen’s Hospital is a not-for-profit private health care provider owned by the Uniting Church, and is the only not-for-profit provider of private hospital services on the Fraser Coast with campuses in both Maryborough and Hervey Bay.

UnitingCare Health also includes The Wesley Hospital and St Andrew’s War Memorial Hospital in Brisbane and The Sunshine Coast Private Hospital in Buderim and is therefore a significant provider of health care services in Queensland.  Collectively, over 4,100 people are currently employed by UnitingCare Health, with approximately 100,000 patients treated annually.
