Dr Palapitige is a general Orthopaedic Surgeon with special interest in adult shoulder ,hip ,knee and sport surgery. He has extensive experience in managing both adult and paediatric traumas.
Dr Palapitige obtained his orthopaedic training in Sydney and Adelaide and was awarded the fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in December 2010. He also completed a Hip and Knee Arthroplsty fellowship at Nepean Hospital Penrith NSW. Subsequently he underwent further training at Flinders Medical Centre and Repatriation Hospital, Adelaide focusing on shoulder surgeries.
Dr Palapitige obtained his primary degree from the University of Ruhuna Sri Lanka and subsequently obtained a Master of Surgery from University of Colombo Sri Lanka. He is a Fellow of the Australian Orthopaedic Association since 2014 and a college appointed IMG supervisor.
Before taking up the position of Director of Orthopaedic Department at Hervey Bay Public Hospital he was practicing at Alice Springs Hospital as the Head of the Orthopaedic department for 10 years.
Dr Palapitige commenced private practice at St Stephen’s Hospital Hervey Bay in November 2017.
