  • Head and neck surgery: Surgical interventions for tumours, congenital disorders, and reconstructive procedures.

• Types of ENT procedures

  We perform a range of ENT procedures at St Stephen's Hospital, including:

  • Adenoidectomy or adenoid removal: The removal of the adenoids – enlarged lymphatic tissue – from the back of the nose, which can reduce ear infections, snoring, nasal obstruction and sinusitis.
  • Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS): A surgical procedure for children in which the connections between the sinuses and nose are enlarged to help improve drainage of the sinuses.
  • Grommets: A surgical procedure used to treat Glue Ear – a condition where the eustachian tube is unable to drain excess middle ear fluid. During this procedure, tiny tubes (called grommets) are inserted into the eardrums so air can enter the middle ear and drain the excess fluid. 
  • Sinus surgery: This procedure is commonly used to remove nasal polyps, which can cause blockages, sinus infections, mouth breathing and loss of smell.
  • Myringoplasty: An operation to repair a hole in your eardrum. Your ENT doctor will use a graft to cover the hole. This helps to prevent infections and can even improve your hearing. 
  • Tonsillectomy or tonsil removal: This is the removal of the tonsils. Tonsil surgery is suitable for those who suffer from chronic tonsillitis, a growth in or on the tonsils, or swollen tonsils that make it difficult to breathe or sleep. 
  • Rhinoplasty: Commonly referred to as a nose job, this procedure changes the shape of the nose to improve breathing, change the look of the nose, or both. 
  • Septoplasty: This is a procedure that straightens the bone and cartilage inside the nose (septum) to improve breathing and reduce the risk of sinus infections.  
  • Turbinoplasty: This operation reduces the size of turbinates (long, thin bones inside the nose) to improve breathing. 

• Our facilities

  St Stephen's Hospital is set across three floors, with five operating theatres and private patient rooms. During your stay with us, you’ll have access to a patient entertainment system in your room, which allows you to watch television, listen to the radio and order your meals at the touch of a button. Free Wi-Fi is also available for you to use your own devices during your admission. 

  Our state-of-the-art hospital is surrounded by grassy grounds and is a calm and nurturing environment, designed with space, light and healing in mind. On the ground floor, you'll find our cafe and outdoor patio for you to sit and walk in, or for your loved one to wait while you are having your procedure. On the ground floor, you'll also find our Chapel which is open to all for reflection and prayer. The chapel serves our community and is a quiet and sacred space.

• Rehabilitation

  Early mobility will help your recovery and aid you to get back to normal activities sooner. Our allied health team are highly experienced in surgical rehabilitation, and will work with you before and after your procedure to give you the best, and fastest, recovery possible. 

  Our Inpatient Rehabilitation Ward and our Outpatient clinic will work with you during your stay and at our onsite Exercise Medicine Centre.
