As part of UnitingCare Health, St Stephen’s Hospital routinely undergoes quality management system accreditation to assure patients, staff, visiting medical practitioners, the UnitingCare Queensland Board and the wider community, that our care and services are safe and of a high quality.
Accreditation is an independent review process by which an approved assessing body considers whether a health care organisation meets agreed international health care standards. The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) assesses UnitingCare Health.
There are ten
National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards developed by the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in HealthCare, which must be met by hospitals. They include systems and processes for governance, consumer engagement, infection prevention and management, and other key clinical outcomes.
All UnitingCare Health Hospitals and services have achieved ISO accreditation.
