Dr Shenal Appuhamy graduated with MBBS from Sri Lanka in 2012. After completing internship and one year of residency in a medical high dependency unit, Dr Appuhamy entered MD medicine program in 2015. He completed a further four years of training in Sri Lanka and started his training in Australia in 2019 to complete two more years of mandatory overseas training to obtain his specialist qualification from Sri Lanka. After obtaining his qualification as a specialist in General Medicine from Sri Lanka in 2021, Dr Appuhamy applied for specialist recognition with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. He completed one more year of supervised practice to obtain fellowship with RACP in 2023. Dr Appuhamy has also completed a postgraduate certificate in Acute Medicine with the Federation of Royal Colleges of Physicians in the UK. He is currently studying his second year of Master of Perioperative Medicine with Monash University. Currently working as a specialist physician in Hervey Bay Hospital, Dr Appuhamy has commenced at St Stephen's Hospital as a general and perioperative physician. He has a strong interest in perioperative medicine, striving to deliver better outcomes for patients with chronic health issues undergoing surgery.
